Why am I Christian?
Why I am a Christian?
"WHY ARE YOU a Christian?" asked a friend a long time ago. I can remember stumbling over his question because at that time in my life, I had never given it much thought. When pressed for an answer I said things like: "My father was a minister, my family always goes to church, my brothers and my sister were all baptized by my dad."
Anger
When I was in college I knew guys that burned their draft cards and ran off to Canada to avoid the draft.
But not me I was working my way through college at the Bridge Cafe on the campus of the University of Minnesota. One night a sharply dressed couple came in for dessert, and as I was serving them, I spilled a saucer of ice cream in the man's lap.
The man erupted in an angry rage, cursing and belittling me. I apologize profusely as the man continued to berate me. Until I lost my job.
Then the woman spoke up. She simply said ''Thank you."

Sometimes I wish I were in charge
Sometimes I wish I were in charge.
I had that thought recently as ! looked in the mirror and tried to calculate how much of my skull is still covered by hair. Let's just say it's south of 50 percent and leave it at that. If I were in charge, all guys get to keep their hair, cradle to grave.
This got me thinking about other physiological inequities. In the last couple of years, I've made some significant diet and exercise changes in order to improve my health. I have all but eliminated soda, and numerous other caloric delights from my diet. while I have logged sweaty, painful hours at the gym.
It's not fair! I want to be fit but free to feast on fast food forever. If I were in charge, cholesterol and gluten would be outlawed. and everyone would get toned abs, with or without exercise.
But why stop at shallow aesthetic concerns?
